Licensed Clinical Social Worker

“We tend to seek Happiness. When Happiness is actually a CHOICE.”

This does not mean that everything is perfect… I have no magic wands. However, I believe that our thoughts can either move us towards happiness or away from happiness. This is true even if you had a difficult childhood, or experience turbulence in your marriage or your job is not ideal…

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Slippery Rock University in 1993. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. I have previously worked in the child welfare system and served as a foster parent in the Lehigh Valley.

I specialize in working with those dealing with anxiety, depression, grief/loss and abuse issues. I often work with clients who just feel “stuck”. I enjoy working with blended families and divorcing couples around co-parenting issues. I also help couples struggling with communication problems to rediscover love, respect and intimacy in their relationship.

My practice focuses on personal empowerment with a creative approach. I help clients make decisions based on their core values while building on strengths in order to face current obstacles and view the past with a new perspective of understanding.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and a Nationally Certified Clinician.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Communications at the University of Hartford and my Master’s degree from John Carroll University in Clinical Counseling in 1997.

I have worked as a clinician with students in academic settings at the University and Middle School level and as a supervisor in mental health agencies. I have extensive experience working with adults, children and adolescents providing individual, couples, co-parenting and family counseling. My specializations include mood disorders, anxiety, behavior and adjustment disorders, anger management, divorce issues, grief and trauma.

The focus of my therapy is to help my client increase awareness of his or her potential and create a new direction in life. Difficult experiences in our past cannot be erased, however, learning to have a better understanding about yourself may help to resolve those issues, create new beliefs and find one’s own inner strengths.

This process is an opportunity to transform painful feelings into STRENGTHS. Building on strengths can create a strong foundation for future challenges and improve healthy decision making skills. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches to assist my clients in creating positive change and personal growth that will ultimately lead to success.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania.

I completed my ungraduate degree in Psychology at Wilkes University and obtained my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University.

I participated in an internship program at Kutztown University Counseling Services, providing Solution-Focused/Brief therapy to university students, focusing on depression, anxiety, adjustment, mindfulness, and development of strengths.

For the past several years, I worked in community mental health providing individual therapy to individuals with a variety of clinical disorders including depression, anxiety, psychosis and mood disorders. I also have provided neurocognitive therapy and have experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, acquired brain injuries, and other neurological disorders.

My focus as a therapist is most importantly person-centered and strength-based. I believe by exploring a person’s strengths and values they become empowered to make the changes they wish to make. Often client’s report feeling “stuck”. I believe with a non-judgmental setting, a person can learn they have the potential for growth and healing that they may not have thought possible.

I have been a licensed social worker in Pennsylvania since 2006.  I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Delaware.  I earned my master’s degree in social work from Marywood University. I also hold a graduate degree from Northeastern University and Harvard University.

Prior to joining our practice, I served as an educator for thirty five years, as both a teacher and administrator in K-12 schools.  I have also served as a Student Assistance Program therapist at the elementary, middle school and high school levels in the Lehigh Valley and as a behavioral specialist with a local behavioral health organization.

I have worked extensively with both children and adults throughout my career. My specific areas of specialization include conflict management, anger management, depression, anxiety, and couples therapy. I am also very effective in helping parents shape rules for their children which are consistent and fit comfortably with what may be divergent parenting styles.  My overarching skill is my ability to help individuals communicate more clearly so that all parties hear, understand and accept each other’s points of view.
