Lauren Gearhart.

Front-end web developer based out of the greater Philadelphia area

I first started exploring the world of web development and design in middle school, when I launched my very own, very tacky Geocities homepage. After completing my social sciences degree, I decided I wanted to get back to my roots — tinkering with code! I currently reside in the greater Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania, and in the future I hope to continue to explore the rest of the world, too.

August 2017 - Present: Front-End Web Developer, Liquid Interactive

Perform duties relating to front-end web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, React, Angular, and Bootstrap
Build or modify sites in a variety of content management systems, including Sitecore, WordPress, Umbraco, Drupal, and Joomla
Slice Photoshop or Sketch designs into a functional website or web component
Develop projects using in-browser design
Code responsive HTML emails or email templates, test them in a variety of email clients using Email on Acid prior to deployment, and then deploy using automated email marketing platforms, including ExactTarget, Campaign Monitor, and MailChimp
Implement search engine optimization recommendations and build or modify sites with SEO best practices in mind
Create animated HTML ad banners using Google Web Designer
Perform quality assurance testing (QA), including testing on various devices both organically and via BrowserStack
Evaluate site performance using Microsoft Azure Portal
Communicate with clients and project managers to ensure quality work is delivered on time
Use a variety of methods and project management platforms to track project progress, including Mavenlink, Basecamp, Trello, Asana, Jira, and Teamplace
Work as part of a team to build or modify existing sites using source control and Visual Studio
Create a fun, welcoming, supportive atmosphere using outstanding team-building and leadership skills
Assist, train, and advise new team members

May 2015 - Present: Independent Web Development/Design Consultant

Act as lead/sole developer/designer on a variety of projects
Develop new sites or modify existing ones, depending on client’s needs
Act as a liaison between clients and other parties (e.g. web hosting providers, graphic designers, other stakeholders)
Create or edit aesthetically appropriate graphics using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Troubleshoot technical problems of a wide range and scale, research possible resolution strategies, and implement solutions to ensure each site runs smoothly
Assist, train, and advise less experienced or less tech-savvy project partners

June 2015 - September 2015: Web Development/Design Intern, Computer Creations

Developed mobile-responsive websites using Joomla for small businesses in the Bahamas
Selected an appropriate Joomla theme for the project by evaluating both the aesthetic front-end and logistical back-end needs of the client
Installed Joomla and the chosen theme, then customized the theme in accordance with the design specifications of the client using CSS
Created content or imported content from pre-existing sites as necessary
Determined how best to format the presentation of the content using HTML, Joomla, the framework of the chosen theme, graphic design, and copy editing
